Applying the Knowledge Gained in the Classroom, PSMIL Holds a Field Work Lecture University General University General

Udayana University Postgraduate Master of Environmental Science Study Program (PSMIL Pasca Unud) held a Field Work Lecture (KKL) for Batch 2024/2025 Students from May 23-25, 2025, located in the West Bali and North Bali Regions. This KKL was attended by all PSMIL students of Batch 2024/2025, accompanying lecturers, and foreign students of the International Program “Tropical Ecology and Community Based Conservation”. This activity is designed as a form of direct learning in the field, which aims to improve students' understanding and skills in applying the knowledge that has been learned theoretically in lectures. The locations that became the destination of the MPA this time were the West Bali National Park Center, TPS 3R “Sanker Bersehati” Pejarakan Village, Karang Sewu Beach (mangrove), Hatten Wines Vineyard, Celukan Bawang Harbor, and Banyualit Beach and Lovina Beach. 




Chairman of the KKL Committee Pande Ketut Cahya Krisnanta Arioka, who was met on the sidelines of the activity, said that KKL is one of the important activities in the educational process in the Udayana University Master of Environmental Science Study Program. This activity aims to provide direct experience to students in observing and analyzing various environmental problems contextually in the field. North Bali was chosen as the location of the MPA because it has a diversity of coastal ecosystems and social and economic dynamics that are relevant to study, such as mangrove and coral reef conservation, waste management, and the impact of tourism on the marine environment. Cahya added, as for the objectives of this activity, namely increasing students' understanding of the management and conservation of coastal ecosystems in a practical way, directly examining waste management practices at the village level (TPS3R), observing the impact of industry and sea transportation on the coastal environment, analyzing the impact of tourism on the dolphin population and water quality in the Lovina area, and establishing cooperation with various agencies in the North Bali Region.



Meanwhile, Korprodi PSMIL Prof. Ir. Ida Ayu Astarini, MSc., PhD, expressed her gratitude to all students and lecturers involved, so that this activity could run smoothly. Prof. Asta added, this Field Work Lecture (KKL) is expected to make a real contribution in improving student competence in the field of environmental science, especially the management and conservation of coastal and marine resources. Through this field experience, students are expected to develop insights and practical skills and increase social and ecological sensitivity in addressing future environmental challenges (DK).
